Recent Innovations and Upcoming Enhancements at NIS

At Network Integration Specialists (NIS), continuous improvement is part of our DNA. Beyond the regular updates we share in day-to-day support, we’ve been implementing powerful new systems designed to strengthen security, streamline operations, and improve reliability for every organization we serve.

Below is a look at some of the major improvements already in place, and a few new projects still in progress.

Identity Verification via MFA Push

To strengthen end-user security and verification, NIS now leverages Microsoft 365’s Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) system for identity validation.

When support requests involve sensitive data or actions, we can securely verify a user’s identity using an MFA push notification to their registered mobile device. The process is fast, secure, and simple.  The user just approves the prompt on their mobile device to confirm their identity.

As we complete Microsoft 365 migrations across all client environments, this verification process will become a standard part of our support workflow.

Automated MFA Reset Process

We’ve automated the MFA reset procedure for users who upgrade or replace their mobile devices. Our technicians can now reset MFA directly from within a service ticket, triggering an automatic re-enrollment prompt the next time the user logs into Microsoft 365.

This reduces downtime and improves the user experience, eliminating manual coordination and delays.

Streamlined Equipment Tracking

Our electronic Employee Equipment Form system tracks every company-issued device with complete documentation — including issue dates, hardware lists, and serial numbers. These records are stored securely and can be used for audits or asset management reporting.

In future portal updates, clients will be able to access this data directly, simplifying device tracking and accountability.  If you would like more information on this add-on service, contact .

On-Demand Backup Reports in the Customer Portal

Customers can now request real-time server backup reports directly from the NIS Customer Portal.

Simply navigate to the Service Catalog → Users and Services → Request Server Backup Audit. A report link will be delivered by email, showing your system’s backup status at the exact moment of the request.

Although NIS monitors backups continuously, this feature provides complete transparency and peace of mind.  This is available to all of our customer primary contacts by default.  If you would like anyone else on your team to have access to the report, let us know at .

Budgeting and IT Forecasting Tools

We’re finalizing a powerful new Annual Budgeting Report tool that projects IT costs and tracks real-world spending throughout the year. Once launched, organizations will be able to access live data and forecasts directly from the NIS Portal.

This feature is expected to roll out in early 2026 and will support proactive budgeting and long-term planning.

Smarter User Onboarding and Offboarding

User lifecycle management is getting smarter. We’re developing unified automation that synchronizes onboarding and offboarding tasks across Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and local Active Directory environments.

Our long-term goal is to give HR departments direct control, allowing them to schedule employee activation and deactivation securely through our customer portal. This major initiative will continue evolving through 2026.

Intelligent Device Onboarding and Retirement

NIS has refined its device automation workflows to handle deployment and retirement seamlessly:

  • New systems are configured automatically based on their assigned location, installing the correct policies and software in under 30 minutes.

  • Retired systems trigger a license cleanup process, automatically removing subscriptions and software to prevent unnecessary billing.

These improvements keep environments consistent, secure, and cost-efficient.

Looking Ahead

At Network Integration Specialists, we view automation not as a luxury, but as a foundation for modern IT. Each advancement reduces friction, improves response times, and increases the reliability of every environment we manage.

As these systems evolve, we’ll continue sharing updates and expanding the capabilities available through the NIS Customer Portal.

Our mission remains the same: To keep your technology effortless, secure, and ready for whatever comes next.
